I'd go watch the film if it had a premise like that.

Even with a different Buffy as long as the imposter looked close enough like SMG (not that that would be the happiest scenerio), because they could just play the differences off as the character being ten years older.

I'm not sure what other way this 'reboot' could go without being plain weird.

Maybe you should pitch this idea to them :).
