Quick Penguin Break

In Heat

"Kaaaark!" Angel cried as he caught sight of Buffy. It was true. It was really her. His one foretold love, the one he was fated to be with. The one he'd stomped on so many eggs to win. As he slowly waddled across the ice towards her, he could feel warmth spreading within him.

Buffy cocked her head, regarding him with a slightly worried look. "Kaaa?"

Angel shouted a triumphant "Kaaaar-aaark!" as the heat in his loins kept building, the warm glow of his destiny, the hot flame of his desire. It felt like he was flying across the ice towards Buffy, seeing her as through a haze of - hang on. That's not haze, that's steam. "Oh... Kark." He'd barely gotten the curse out before the ice melted under his hot, glowing feet and he plummeted into the icy cold ocean beneath.

Buffy put her flipper to her forehead, slowly shook her head and sighed. "Karaar."

How much do I love you?

EVIL PENGUINS!

[identity profile] beer-good-foamy.livejournal.com 2010-03-04 08:35 am (UTC)(link)
I never trusted them. Flightless, tuxedo-wearing little bastards, they're like tiny frozen Bond villains.

Thanks! :-)

[identity profile] mrs-underhill.livejournal.com 2010-03-04 05:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah! See what those penguin bastards can do:

[identity profile] beer-good-foamy.livejournal.com 2010-03-04 06:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Yup. And they occasionally go insane too. Clearly, you need to really watch yourself around penguins.

[identity profile] mrs-underhill.livejournal.com 2010-03-05 03:43 am (UTC)(link)
And how can we forget this one!

Oddly enough, the penguin AU becomes more and more plausible.

I love my fandom faction. It resorts to penguins in times of trouble and doubt.

Yes. Totally agreed.

*needs to load that penguin icon*

After giant robots, centaurs, and vamp!Hello Kitties, they seem perfectly normal to me.

LOL! Awesome

Heee! And then their stormy penguin passion melted the polar cap, and the world turned into the "Waterworld" - but who cares? Theirs was a special destiny, the rest was unimportant!

[identity profile] eilowyn.livejournal.com 2010-03-04 02:55 am (UTC)(link)
So Angel's penguin special-ness is melting the polar ice caps? Someone should tell Al Gore.

[identity profile] angearia.livejournal.com 2010-03-04 04:24 am (UTC)(link)
I should've known Angel was responsible for Waterworld. And here I was blaming Kevin Costner this entire time...
gillo: (Penguin AU)

[personal profile] gillo 2010-03-04 10:42 am (UTC)(link)
Wasn't Joss involved somewhere in Waterworld?

[identity profile] beer-good-foamy.livejournal.com 2010-03-04 10:48 am (UTC)(link)
Yup. He was a "script doctor" (or as some call it, an "arc welder") which basically means he tried to edit the script to introduce some semblance of plot and write some snappy dialogue.

MAL REYNOLDS KEVIN COSTNER: This is my boat. I got it the way I like it. You take up space and you slow me down.

Anyone who's actually sat through Waterworld knows how well he succeeded. Though obviously, it was an impossible task.

[identity profile] beer-good-foamy.livejournal.com 2010-03-04 08:41 am (UTC)(link)
HA! That's brilliant, Joss is uniting all his stories into one big 'verse. Now all we need is for Buffy to make out with the big bad, like Ripley at the end of Alien: Resurrection.

...Oh. Nevermind.

[identity profile] petzipellepingo.livejournal.com 2010-03-04 12:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Kaaar-aark!!

[identity profile] hkath.livejournal.com 2010-03-04 02:42 am (UTC)(link)
BWAH! You just made it all better, right there :D

[identity profile] beer-good-foamy.livejournal.com 2010-03-04 08:42 am (UTC)(link)
Everything's always better with penguins. Thanks!

[identity profile] beer-good-foamy.livejournal.com 2010-03-04 08:46 am (UTC)(link)
Hey, it was your comment that inspired it - YOU win! We all win! \o/

[identity profile] rebcake.livejournal.com 2010-03-04 04:22 am (UTC)(link)
I kept waiting for the sparkles...

[identity profile] beer-good-foamy.livejournal.com 2010-03-04 08:51 am (UTC)(link)
Sorry, but sparkling tuxedoes went out with the 80s. Say what you want about penguins, but they have impeccable style.
gillo: (Penguin AU)

[personal profile] gillo 2010-03-04 10:43 am (UTC)(link)
Penguins do not sparkle. TRUFAX.

[identity profile] beer-good-foamy.livejournal.com 2010-03-04 10:49 am (UTC)(link)
Neither did Buffyverse vampires 48 hours ago. :-P

Penguins of win

Is there any other kind? :-) Thanks!

Poor Penguin!Buffy always falls for the wrong guys.

[identity profile] beer-good-foamy.livejournal.com 2010-03-04 10:53 am (UTC)(link)
Well, in her defense, this time she never even got a chance to fall or not fall for him. Something tells me that her reaction to a glowing penguin with egg on his feet running up to her and kaaaarking about destiny might not have impressed her much. :-)
shapinglight: (snowy owl)

[personal profile] shapinglight 2010-03-04 11:16 am (UTC)(link)
Hee! Funny!

Don't have a penguin icon so an owl will have to do.

[identity profile] beer-good-foamy.livejournal.com 2010-03-04 12:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Awww, he looks so snuggly. And possibly slightly stoned. "Dude... what are those penguins doing?!?"
shapinglight: (snowy owl)

[personal profile] shapinglight 2010-03-04 12:58 pm (UTC)(link)
I think owls are permanently stoned. You'd have to be if your neck rotated the full 360.

Who knew that penguins could bring us so much delight ? We even weren't aware of them one week ago!

I believe your post is the best thing coming from the latest comics issue. :)

[identity profile] beer-good-foamy.livejournal.com 2010-03-04 06:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Who knew that penguins could bring us so much delight ? We even weren't aware of them one week ago!

And now, it's officially the Penguin the Herring Slayer fandom. :-D

I believe your post is the best thing coming from the latest comics issue. :)

Thanks a lot, but let's give fandom a chance. This storyline promises to be a never-ending font of crack - and since it's so insane to begin with, just imagine what people will have to do to make fun of it! I think pretty soon, we're going to look back and think penguin!fic was the fandom's last attempt at relative normality.

[identity profile] jamalov29.livejournal.com 2010-03-04 08:55 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm all about giving fandom plenty of chances. I think what happened in the comics looks so insane that it has become utterly entertaining and we haven't seen the end of the fun yet. :-)
Maybe we will remember penguin!fic with fondness then..

[identity profile] mrs-underhill.livejournal.com 2010-03-04 04:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah-ha-ha, that's perfect!
I like this Buffy better.

[identity profile] beer-good-foamy.livejournal.com 2010-03-04 06:07 pm (UTC)(link)
ICON!

I loved how TV!Buffy was never less impressed than when someone told her something was written/fated/destined to happen.

[identity profile] xlivvielockex.livejournal.com 2010-03-04 04:59 pm (UTC)(link)
I had this big long comment typed out and then LJ ate it so I will just say what I always say to you...

YOU, SIR, ROCK.

Not much more can be said. In times of trouble, trust you to bring the lulz. And bring them oh so well.

[identity profile] beer-good-foamy.livejournal.com 2010-03-04 06:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Kaaaaaark! *waddles around in appreciative circles*

[identity profile] xlivvielockex.livejournal.com 2010-03-04 06:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Next time, I'm just commenting with a bucket of fish.

[identity profile] brutti-ma-buoni.livejournal.com 2010-03-04 07:09 pm (UTC)(link)
I completely withdraw my belief that the penguin fic genre was sadly past its prime. Truly, penguins make anything better. Fandom needs penguins.

[identity profile] beer-good-foamy.livejournal.com 2010-03-04 09:25 pm (UTC)(link)
There is no bad with penguins. Well, except the evil or clinically depressed ones, but that just makes them an even more Buffy-like substitute for... certain other stories.

[identity profile] zanthinegirl.livejournal.com 2010-03-04 07:47 pm (UTC)(link)
So loaded this icon the other day thinking "Well, I'll get maybe a day or two of use out of it"...

Honestly, the penguins make more sense than the comics when you come right down to it!

Buffy put her flipper to her forehead, slowly shook her head and sighed. "Karaar."

That is so Buffy!

[identity profile] beer-good-foamy.livejournal.com 2010-03-04 09:26 pm (UTC)(link)
So loaded this icon the other day thinking "Well, I'll get maybe a day or two of use out of it"...

I think we're going to have to set up separate archives, LJ comms etc for the penguin fandom soon. Clearly, it's not going anywhere.

That is so Buffy!

Thanks!

[identity profile] sam-arkand.livejournal.com 2010-03-05 01:51 am (UTC)(link)
Actually, he was probably taken down by one of these: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hotheaded_Naked_Ice_Borer

And I can see Penguin!Buffy "beak-flipping" like that. I assume she slays undead seals.

[identity profile] beer-good-foamy.livejournal.com 2010-03-08 11:39 pm (UTC)(link)
I hadn't actually heard of those. But yeah, that's definitely it. Thanks!
