It is supposedly a term used about horses, but yeah, it's not the subtlest of innuendos, is it? ETA: Part of the reason I hate what the comics did to Dawn is that a) Joss obviously didn't have any ideas of what to do with her that didn't involve turning her into a case to be solved (heavens forfend she actually continue her s7 story and be intelligent and useful), and b) that he was obviously betting on most fans already disliking her, so he could turn her into a funny victim and nobody would care since Everybody KnowsTM that all Buffy fans hate Dawn. (The same applies to Kennedy.)
You mentioned snowpuppies the other day, she's probably one of my favourite Dawn writers. Some of the stuff she's written, whether silly or dark (and as you know, she can really do dark-and-fucked-up) is just staggeringly good in how she addresses the various issues Dawn faces by simply existing.
Oh, and I'm Swedish. Our word for Christmas is entymologically related to our word for "beer", and all christmas decorations feature gnomes and Thor's goats side by side with angels and baby jesuses (jesii?). Turns out that if you have enough akvavit and ham, all myths really are true. :)
