Interesting about the title translations. I'm surprised languages with portmanteau word traditions couldn't do better with Buffy: vampirschlagerin [forgive me, this is gibberish, but something along these lines]. You'd lose the absurdity of her first name, inevitably, but the idea of her role should be directly translatable, shouldn't it? Romance languages would come out more Andrew, I suppose: slayer of the vampires. So that's one language joke in season seven down the pan. But I'm not sure why the decision to make such big changes in wording the title - it's not as if vampire slayer is idiomatic or commonplace language in English. How do they render 'Slayer' within the text?
