Thanks! The sphinx "theory" is one of those things that's probably just a slightly nutty conspiracy theory. IIRC, the guy who came up with it claims there's a hidden crypt under the sphinx and claims that since the Egyptian government won't let him excavate it, they clearly have something to hide... Gee, I can't imagine any other reason they wouldn't want people digging holes under the sphinx.
