Yes, I've been seeing it as similar to VE day, given the same sort of people have been on the other side. It has definitely felt like a regime. But it's true that there will be a long path to start tilting things back in the right direction, and some things will have no easy fix.
Trump was never the one and only problem here, just one of the most high-profile examples. Over the past few days I've seen quite a few European politicians, who have bet their entire political career on Trump-like tactics working, scrambling to tell themselves and their voters that they will continue to work. I'm not convinced they won't succeed. But US voters sent a very welcome message this week.
