Well if you are not big on the shipping aspect of the show, new DW fic is not for you because that's what the vast majority of it consists of, with a *large* portion of that being Ten/Rose. I have seen a couple of random Nine/Martha fics since you bring that up, and if I see them again, I'll let you know.
As for recs, most of what immediately springs to mind for me are old school set fics, and you haven't started watched the old stuff yet.
So, the most valuable thing I think I could tell you is to go and join calufrax. It's a brand new comm that just opened a few weeks ago, and its purpose is to rec fics that are on Teaspoon (the major DW fic site). Two or three people each week do recs, and everything I've read that's been recced over there has been *fantastic.* They rec old school and new school, and I'm sure you'll find something great to read over there.
