Happy Australia day to my upside-down friends. And for [livejournal.com profile] open_on_sunday's "Down/under" challenge:

Antipodean
Post-series

As the new Slayers gather from all over the world, they exchange stories. Their first slay, how they were called, and the nightmares (and occasional blind priests) of the preceding months.

The ones from Australia, though, have a slightly different story. Apparently the First Evil, being thousands of years old, never quite got the intricacies of the world being round (it's just a theory, after all) and the implications for the ones living on the underside.

"So that's what that meant?" Sheila laughs. "You know, I never understood what was supposed to be scary about From above you, it devours."

I could have written her saying "Crikey, mate" a lot instead, would you have preferred that? ;-) Thanks!

Well cripes, mate, if you're gonna write a true blue Aussie, you bloody well gotta get some kinda clue that they're a proper ocker, and that's bloody hard yakka.
But I've certainly never heard of any ridgey-didge young Shelia who's actually called Shelia. That's just a bit outta the blue, y'know?

:D

And I just realise that the proper Aussie phrase would have been "From on top o' ya, it rustles up some tucker". Sorry about that. :-)
