Oh, man! I am having too many feels to say anything coherent. Poor Giles, bad Giles, silly Giles. He's all three here, but it's interesting to think he had his own deep depression to deal with, in his way, just as Buffy did. You're giving me more sympathy for his desertion. Just because we didn't see his story play out doesn't mean it wasn't awful.
I'll be thinking about this one for awhile. I'm glad you pulled out the oil can for this one, Tin Man!
