That writing meme

...that's been doing the rounds.
What's the piece of writing you're most proud of? Why?
See next question. But also Shooting Star, because it was the first fic I wrote that I was (and remain) really happy with, and Elves, Gremlins And Eskimoes because it was just so completely shameless but, IMO, worked.
What do you think is your best work? Why?
I'm going to say Mission Accomplished. Which is probably not a huge surprise, people seem to like it. But the hours and days after "The Gift" always fascinated me, in fact, the very first fic I wrote started out as an attempt to understand what happened to everyone immediately afterwards. To be honest, I hadn't planned on writing any more than that one story, but then it got away from me and I had to write something else and the next thing you knew... Anyway, Mission Accomplished not only gave me a chance to tie up those loose ends and keep it in canon, but also to play it off both the history and the future of the 'verse – a season 5 fic written for people who know how the story ended two years later. Plus, I love the old bomber pilot.
Is there a piece that nags at you and you can't figure out how to fix it or if it even needs to be fixed?
Discipline. I haven't touched it in years. It's got huge problems (songfic? What was I thinking?), it's overwritten and underplanned, but I still like the idea too much to feel good about having left it where it is.
Is there a story you wish you'd done differently? How would you change it, looking back?
Several. I'm rarely completely happy with a story. There's a few drabbles that I wish I'd given up on trying to fit into 100 words and expanded rather than condensed... If The Band You're In Starts Playing Different Tunes, Jitters, Pan Am Highway Blues, etc.
But for the most part, it's just that when you start a story, it can go anywhere. But once you make a choice on where to take it, then no matter how good it turns out, the potential other stories dead. For instance, take I Can Drive 55. It would have been so easy, just change a few small words, and it would have been a story in which Buffy died from the gutwound in "Chosen" and Faith is having the conversation with her ghost instead. Which would have been a completely different story. But, alas, 'twas not to be.
What's the kinkiest thing you've written?
Probably Wow. It's got Faith!Buffy/Buffy!Faith, after all, which surprisingly few people seem to have written (though in retrospect, I wish I could have played up the serious side of it a bit more; the tacked-on second chapter never felt quite right). Then again, Stop Touching My Magic Bone! has Skeletor/DEATH, so...
What's the darkest piece?
Birthday Girl is pretty bleak, as is The Singular of Apocalypses, both for completely different reasons despite both being Buffy-centric fics. Then again, Welcome to the Slaughterhouse has inter-Scooby cannibalism. So... I'm not sure.
What's the funniest piece?
At the risk of tooting my own horn, I crack myself up pretty often. But probably Dawn of the Dead. There's others, though... I still love the timing of Gonna Make You Bark. Oh, and a few of the drabbles, Special Delivery for instance.
What's the piece that sounded good in theory, but just didn't translate well?
Again, I'm sure there are some drabbles and short ficlets. Spartan had a good idea – Eve spending her last few hours in Faith's old motel room - but I'm not sure it makes sense, or that there wasn't more I could have done with it, or if many people even remembered the character. And Some Velvet Morning When I'm Straight definitely needed at least another rewrite (which is a bit embarrassing, as it is a rewrite).
