...buh!
With the... and the...
And then the theme music, and...
Hearts of gold!
And good fucking riddance to... and them too.
...and then poor Diane, where...
And the dance! THE DANCE! And then the smash cut to... and the reversed... Where?
Holy fucking shit, Lynch and Frost have been slowly building for 15 hours and now they're unleashing on us. That was one of the best hours of television I've ever seen. We don't deserve this. There's no way we've earned this, but I'm going to lap it all up.
One hundred percent. One hundred percent.

I did rewatch season 1 some while back but I probably need to watch it again and I've only seen FWWM once many years ago.

Christ I'm going to miss watching this every week. 16 week have just flown by.

I know. I've loved watching it week by week, and I'm so grateful that Lynch didn't dump the whole season in one go so people could binge it with half an eye open but had to pay attention each week. But the idea that it'll be over in two weeks, and that it's probably the last Lynch project we'll see... When it's this fucking good.

(Wandered by because Petzi linked to your post about the Adam Busch movie, which also looks like great fun.)

Oh yes. I literally screamed at the TV at that point.
At least you get to watch it at a decent time. :) For us across the pond, the choice is either get up at 5AM tomorrow and watch it, or spend all of Monday wondering about it... And I know what you mean. On the one hand, I can't wait. On the other, it breaks my heart that this is it, that this is the end of Twin Peaks and probably Lynch's career as a whole. I've waited for this moment for 26 years, and I'm not ready.

I am sad that this is probably the end of Lynch's career, but on the other hand...what a way to go out!

OKAY.
Yeah, that was incredible. I am not going to comment on the finale post yet (I have seen it!) but I feel like -- I feel like 3.16 (and to an extent the first third or so of 3.17) were about the most...TRADITIONALLY SATISFYING that I ever expect Lynch to get, and it somehow feels both right and sort of a tease (because it's about to fall apart again...or is it?) but also not just fucking with us. It feels really earned, basically, and sincere, while also *sort of* fucking with us.
Along those lines -- Richard's being a sacrificial guinea pig doesn't feel like a waste of a character built up over the season, but sufficiently weighty. It really does feel like, whether he's aware of it or not, BOB!Cooper sired him explicitly because he needed something of himself to be able to sacrifice at a moment's notice, because he knew what the traps would be. Put in that way, Richard really is a tragic figure; it's as if he basically *had to* have enough of the BOB/Dark Cooper evil to be a possible decoy, down the road, and this necessarily fucked him and everyone around him (including children crossing the street and schoolteacher witnesses, ye gods) up.
I think the Audrey... storyline (???) is maybe my favourite thing in the season. I feel like it's easier to explain, somehow -- there's something so essentially Twin Peaks about having an extended, multi-episode arc "about" whether someone is going to leave their house or not, whether they have their jacket on or not etc. and then culminating in that dance and then that smash cut to -- what? Where? -- and.... Holy moly. I genuinely haven't gone in for much theorizing, though I did notice that Audrey's saying that she's not who she is in 3.14 or 15 mirrored what not?Diane said, and Richard Horne and that hospital visit suggest the possibility of Audrey's being...visited by BOB!Cooper sending her to a similar fate? (But does that mean it's not Audrey? Or --) But anyway, even before the Reveal (???) the idea that the conflict over whether to go to the Roadhouse or not, and the agonizing process of getting her and Charlie to agree and then to act on it, being a kind of existential battle against entropy and despair which they seem doomed to lose (not totally unlike the seeming insurmountability of Dougie!Dale completing basic tasks, but for very different reasons) was great. Going back to normal TV after this is going to be a struggle.
