I'm not sure I can add much to the thoughtful comments you've already received. This is so well done, and so tragic. Faith's road is always difficult, made more so because she thinks Buffy's is easier. You've painted a haunting image with the obsessive answering machine rewind-listen-rewind. They both must need to feel that they are accomplishing something, and I somehow think they might meet up in LA.
