Remember that XKCD strip years ago about the death of the Mars rover Spirit?

Well, NASA just pulled the plug on its fellow robot Opportunity, 15 years into a mission that was planned to last 90 days. Its last message (translated into Human) was "My battery is low and it’s getting dark."

It's hard to believe that last cartoon was in 2010, I remember it so well! I've seen a bunch of tributes to Opportunity over the past few days. It was a well loved Rover.

Yeah. This is the rover that found water on Mars, after all. That's a hell of an achievement.
