So is anyone else following What We Do In The Shadows?

I must say I enjoyed the movie more, but the series is fun too. And episode seven has a beautiful scene featuring cameos by several actors famous for playing vampires (among many other things), playing themselves as vampires.

Which actors, pray tell? For starters, the vampires from the original WWDITS movie, but they're joined by Tilda Swinton (TILDA SWINTON!) from Only Lovers Left Alive, Evan Rachel Wood from True Blood, Danny Trejo from From Dusk Till Dawn, Wesley Snipes from Blade and, from Buffy the Vampire Slayer (the movie)...

...Paul Reubens. In full makeup as Amilyn.

(Apparently they tried to get Robert Pattinson, Kiefer Sutherland, Tom Cruise, Alexander SkarsgÄrd and Brad Pitt as well. And rejected Cate Blanchett because she doesn't have vampire cred.)

Well too bad they couldn't get the others.

Dave Bautista was there too! (I hope he gets his chance to torture Laszlo. That would be fun.)

But my fave guest star last night was none of the above: Kristen Schaal just killed it as the Vampire Council's herald. ("We can't have real fire in here! The fire marshals would freak out.")

Colin, you bitch.

Poor Guillermo. They're building up to something here. Is he going to quit before the season's over?

I see s1 as an exercise in world building, and Clement, Waititi et al can go wild in S2. They're already planning ahead: they want to bring Vanessa Bayer back and maybe one or two of the vamps who didn't get to The Trial will make it to SI after all...

I couldn't get into it (it's the documentary thing -- can't stand people talking to the camera as if they are being interviewed). But it has been renewed for a second season.

Oh that's hilarious. Now if they would just eat all of the film crew..but then there would be no show..

I really don't like fictional documentaries. I don't know why. It just grates on my nerves. My attention wanders. I think it has something to do with breaking the fourth wall? I don't know.

Of course, I would not say that I'm a fan of real documentaries either...again no clue why.

All the cameos might be the best thing about the series so far. I find it overall fun but not something that I just can't wait to see. If I forgot a week I probably wouldn't be upset. I'm actually enjoying the energy vampire the most (probably because I know about a half dozen of them)

that might be a better way of handling it (I do amuse myself picturing Nadja and Laszlo as Darla and ANgelus)

I'm sure we all work with at least one Colin

I think the BBC are starting it this Sunday.

Or it might have been last Sunday, in which case I need to catch up.
