I like to post something positive on New Year's Eve. This year, it's hard. We all know that randomly chosen dates on a tiny planet's aimless rotation through the eternal void of space mean nothing. We'll wake up tomorrow, hung over, flip the calendar and get a pizza, and then on Monday life assumes as before... but hopefully with slightly more energy to make the world better.

Still, if you're reading this, you made it through 2020. Congratulations. Show it what you think of it by putting this, easily the song of the year for me, on at exactly 11.54:55 PM so the primal scream at the end drowns out the fireworks.

Having a productive end to the year; sort of. With elisi's help some Doctor Who stories are getting up on Ao3 at last, and I finally got around to posting a story I wrote back in June; inspired partly by the death of George Floyd, but also by MeToo and so many other things in recent times.

Running out of time, but I'd like to see if I can get a new story done to finish the year off to bookend the one I wrote back on New Year's Day; what century that was I'm no longer sure.

If this is botched I blame google translate.

Må gudinnan övervaka dig och dina nära och kära under det kommande året.

Thank you,

love to read your thoughts on the various Who drabbles I've been going over to get up on ao3; cannot thank elisi enough for the support she's given me. Don't think I'd have written anything if not for her. Wrote one back in the summer at the height of BLM protests, but never quite had the courage to post it until now. Felt I had to post that one before I could try to write something entirely new. It's been a very dark year for me; beyond all the obvious stuff that everyone has had to deal with, and I'm back to having no support (the lack of which from family hurts the most) which has always ended so well in the past.

It felt so good to be able to create a wholly new story and connect it to something that has been helping me find my way out of the dark; not so much Wynonna Earp reactions, but ones also for Buffy, Doctor Who, Firefly & Band of Brothers; also a very southern lady who has been making me laugh so much with reactions to comedy films I grew up with from Blazing Saddles to Caddyshack; her reactions to Life of Brian had me crying :-)

I have always felt it's me against the universe, so nothing has changed.

No matter what obstacles may be in my way, no matter how little attention it gets, I will finish my Dexter/Buffy series.

Thankfully for my series, you can ignore the last three seasons. So if you've a spare moment this coming year, give it a go -- in a nice change of pace for me, the final book is shaping up to be the most tightly plotted. It's one of the few long form works I've done, and out of all of them definitely the best.

Nice song, thank you!

Midnight fireworks over here are going to be illegal this year. A lot of people are shooting right now, before the curfew starts at ten.

Just reaching the end of it is reason enough for personal celebrations alright.

By a strange coincidence, this went past on my feed at that exact time (22:54) just as some fireworks went off here to, I assume, mark the UK leaving the EU. Thank you for the appropriate celebration of that momentous fact.
