So this is my last LJ (cross)post. I didn't want it to end like this, but with LJ all but declaring war on their own users, it's just no fun anymore. So, about 36 hours from now, I'll delete this journal.

I'm not leaving fandom, at least not yet. I will still be posting at my Dreamwidth account beer_good_foamy (which by then should be a complete backup of this LJ, and I'm working on getting all links right, though that might take a while) and at Archive Of Our Own. I'd love it if you joined me there.

If not, then I just want to leave this note to say thank you to everyone. I've had some of the best times I've ever had online right here, whether reading or writing fic, discussing the intricacies of how Ingmar Bergman relates to "This Year's Girl/Who Are You?" or all-penguin AUs and rocket launcher fic, personal discussions and supreme silliness. I've laughed, cried, raged and giggled at LJ. Thank you, one and all, for listening, and for all that you've shown me and shared with me. I will really miss this place.

Considering that this is one example of the so-called "extremism" the TOS forbid, I wouldn't be surprised...



But even if LJ don't actually act on any of that, the mere fact of forcing people to sign an agreement in a language they don't understand, and responding to questions about it with this kind of passive-aggressive bullshit, would be reason enough for me to run for the hills.

Please, please, PLEASE DO NOT EVER leave fandom! Your meta is my favorite meta and your fic is my favorite fic. (Have I ever even told you that? If not, I'm sorry - I should have.) Your fanworks, both fic and meta, are the ones that stay in my head, that years later I'm still thinking about and going back to re-read and thinking about more. Sometimes I don't manage to comment (I'm so sorry about that) - but I always read, and always, always, always, YOUR fanworks are the ones that stand the test of time. If you ever leave fandom I will be utterly devastated. Please, please, PLEASE STAY!!!

I have no immediate plans to, but I've written a metric shitton of stuff over the years and it feels like I have less and less new things to say, and with the Buffy fandom slowly entering middle age... As fun as it is, all things will eventually come to an end. Then again, I'm still having fun (well, maybe not so much this week) and damnit, I really want to help make something happen here at DW. We really need a ficathon or something like that, don't we?

That question is starting to move to the front of my mind.

I'm sorry. *hugs* That's part of the reason I'm trying to export everything to DW - even if comments on my posts get deleted at LJ, they'll still be saved over here. It's still a big blow to this great community and I wish there was some other way, but...

I do know what you mean about having said all you have to say about BtVS, though. I think I have too, which is why I didn't get so madly excited about the cast reunion as some. It was sweet, but I'm happy with my memories.

Anyway, off to answer your comment on that The Americans post, because it made me ponder something.

Yeah. There are still some friends who only have lj and I have no other way to contact them, so...I probably will not be deleting regardless (yet), but it's one hell of a thing.
