Right, so first, pretty from [livejournal.com profile] still_grrr:

And for those of you who don't get the reference (at least I hope that's the reference [livejournal.com profile] xlivvielockex was making) and you don't mind watching the last scene of The Sopranos again, here it is.

Then, a question especially for US folks: can someone explain to me the appeal of Mary Kate Olsen, apart from the fact that she used to be jailbait a couple of years ago? She just joined the cast of my current favourite TV series, Weeds, and they're promoting it as if she's the lovechild of Meryl Streep and Dustin Hoffman. I don't get it. She's passably pretty with enough make-up, but judging from her first episode she can't act at all. Why can't smart, ever so slightly anti-establishment TV shows remain like that, without celebrity guests? At least Paris Hilton only got one episode on VM, not ten... ETA: I mean, I get that she has a fanbase, even though I don't get why. I'm just surprised that it's the same fanbase as a very adult dark comedy.

Oh well. The last-episode-but-for-the-epilogue of "Elves, Gremlins and Eskimoes" is almost done. Plus, obviously there had to be a Rock on Faith challenge at [livejournal.com profile] facets_of_faith just a couple of days after I posted a few fics about Faith and rock'n'roll... so I guess I'll just have to write another. Hell, there are birthdays coming up and I've never written Faith/Willow before.

Well I'm a US folk and I've got no clue at all... I liked her and Ashley when they did their Olsen and Olsen Mystery Agency show-a-majigger when I was... oh... 10. But since then... no idea

That's pretty much the image I had of her too. And Weeds isn't exactly a show for 10-year-olds. *shrugs*

No, but ten year olds then are 20 year olds today, actually. Just sayin'.

Obviously, but personally I liked a lot of stuff when I was 10 that I was pretty embarrassed about at 20 (and vice versa).

Not sure, she's not nearly as trashy as Paris though. There's a bit more respectibility for her and her sister. No clue on the acting though, as the last I saw of her doing that she was 2. I personally am excited about Weeds regardless, I can't wait for the next season esp since the way they left it off was well... Cruel.

Oh, you're going to love s3. At least the first 5-6 episodes, which is as far as I've seen. Best show on TV right now, IMO.

Faith/Willow?

But - but I thought it was Fuffy forever with you.

Hey, I'm on record as saying that I'll ship Faith with anything that moves. :-)

Anything that moves? Nuh-uh! I'll bet you draw the line at Flem!

Why would I? After all, I've written Cluffy (http://beer-good-foamy.livejournal.com/22647.html#cutid1)...

Ohmigod! You did!!!

And it was kinda hot - in a very disturbing way.

Heh. I actually have a bunch of Cluffy stuffy (http://beer-good-foamy.livejournal.com/tag/cluffy), but that's the only NC17 one. (So far.)

From aardvarks to zebras to walruses with buckets;
If it's alive, then Faith's gonna...

OK, I'm stopping right there. You're right. Anything intelligent that moves. (Which, hey, might rule out Faith/Connor.) ;-)

Or Faith/Andrew.

Please don't tell me you'd write Faith/Andrew. You wouldn't do that to her, surely?

From: [identity profile] beer-good-foamy.livejournal.com
Probably not. I still feel dirtywrongbad for having written Dawn/Andrew. (Though considering how fond Joss seems to be of Andrew, I wouldn't completely rule out comics-canonical Faidrew...)

The Olsen twins are one day younger than me. That's one random piece of knowledge I'm not sure where I got. Huh.

I do not get the appeal though. *shrugs*

Oh drat!! And you were a darling and crossposted them, didn't you?

*sigh* I am so sorry about that. It wasn't at all intentional. If you had any ideas about challenges, I'd be happy to make it up you...

Haha, no worries. It's not like writing Faith is a painful task (though it would be if I tried to sneak anything about Nickelback in there, hehe). I crossposted one of them, for [livejournal.com profile] tessarin's "My Fair Faith" thingy. The other is just a drabble.

Mary Kate and Ashley

I don't know how they ever got past their first show. They were the ugliest toddlers EVER. Once they got older they were cute enough to attract the tweeners, who don't know good acting from bad, anyway.

That's pretty much my thoughts too. I just hope hiring her isn't a sign that the show is going to start dumbing itself down...

I haven't seen the show. I've got too much on my plate to start up with a new fandom, and it drives me crazy to see drug use glorified (yeah, I'm a stick in the mud); of course, don't almost all shows glorify *something* that someone thinks is bad? Anyway, I've heard it's very good, so maybe it'll survive a bit of stunt casting without heading downhill.

I'm so with you on the "no time for a new fandom" thing, but in fairness to Weeds, I don't think it glorifies drug use any more than, say, season 6 of Buffy glorifies depression. It's remarkably preach-free, neither really pro nor con but simply... about. Plus, it's hysterically funny. Hopefully it'll stay like that, yeah.

yeah, I've been there with the depression thing

From: [identity profile] ozma914.livejournal.com
I'll buy that; there are a lot of unsavory things on TV and movies that are just a part of the character's lives and/or plot, rather than being glorified. Besides, I'm always up for hysterically funny.

*tries not to look too perky/hopeful*

But I *am* still down in the dumps, so not to act entitled (see Deadwood), but if you feel up to some more motivational posters, I could sure use some motivation, as well as inoculation against depression...I'm thinking Shaun Of the Dead?

(And re Faith/Andrew: I can't remember the title or author, but I saw one of those once, set in S7, and it was actually a lot of fun. As long as a writer gets the characters right, just about anything can work.)

Sorry to hear that. I'll see what I can do to cheer you up in the poster department. The Faith/Willow bunny is pretty silly, but I hope it works out. Actually, it's sort of a threesome, I guess.

As long as a writer gets the characters right, just about anything can work.

Oh, definitely. As long as it's not TOO cracky. *goes back to work on my Spike/Smithers subtext*
