2 drabbles

Hey, while you're waiting for the next chapter of the snow monster thing (probably due tomorrow), here's two drabbles, one silly BtVS and one sad-ish Doctor Who since I'm doing a little pre-Christmas-special rewatch.

For [livejournal.com profile] open_on_sunday's "candle" challenge:

Power Circle
Season 5-ish

"Is it all gone? De-this-dimensionalized?"

Tara double-checked the spell. "I think so."

"Phew." Willow giggled nervously as she cleaned up the hastily drawn symbols on the crumpled bedsheet. "I've never had to do an emergency banishing stark nekkid before."

"Maybe we should be more careful how we arrange the candles around the bed? And, um..." Tara blushed.

"...not call out anything that might be names of malevolent spirits during extra-romantic moments anymore, gotcha. Stickin' to the old 'Oh G-dash-d yes' from now on."

"Do you think we need to say which god we're not summoning?"

"Wouldn't that be kinda weird?"

And since I just watched "Gridlock" yesterday:

Atonement
Pre-"Gridlock"

For years after he saves her from the virus, Novice Hame has... moments of impiety. She's grateful, really, and trying so very hard to do penance for her sins. But sometimes, walking the dead hallways, stepping over bodies in the dark without thinking, having long conversations with herself just to hear a real voice, it becomes too much. She screams at him. She curses him. She asks him, what's the point? Why her? Why save one single person if the whole world ends?

The Face of Boe just looks at her, sadly, singing his ancient songs until she calms down.

The idea of Willow screaming out "Oh G - dash - D yes!" at a moment of passion is both bizarre and yet strangely in character... :-)

Though she did say 'God' quite a bit in seasons 1 through 6, without any hesitation. Sorry if that spoils the joke. :-)

Thanks! And I hope it doesn't spoil the joke - Willow is always a bit self-conscious, and what she says that she's gonna say, especially in a discussion where it matter how she says what she says, isn't necessarily what she actually ends up saying. ...Or something. It's also possible she's being a tiny bit sarcastic and self-deprecating. (The alternative punchline was to have Willow yelling "JEHOVAH! JEHOVAH! JEHOVAH!", which would, indeed, have been kinda weird.)

which would, indeed, have been kinda weird.

Especially if the drabble ended with half the cast of Monty Python in drag dropping a huge rock on her...
