29th... Rupert Giles, Esq.

Title: A Slayer Slays, A Watcher Watches
Author: Beer Good ([livejournal.com profile] beer_good_foamy)
Rating: PG13
Character: Giles
Timeline: "The Gift"
Word count: 100

It doesn't seem real until he lifts her. The pain as he pops the stitches in his side wakes him up. He was run through by a bloody spear, how can he be the one still breathing?

Her face is peaceful, dead before impact, but broken bones shift and her head lolls at a... wrong angle. He cradles her carefully; she hardly weighs anything. Was she always this fragile? Some still-functioning part of his brain starts counting things he could have done differently.

Her watcher carries her home, refusing offers of help. Their blood drips and mixes on the pavement.

*Sniff* If that was too sad, here are two funnier Giles drabbles: Dedication, Let It Bleed.

Hey, I feel like I've slacked on my comments lately, but couldn't let this one get by me. WOW. That's such a gorgeous, wrenching, believable glimpse into Giles at that moment. Depressing, yes, but also very, very lovely. In that dark way that I have a major affinity for. :-)

*reads the drabble*

Somehow, I can't help but giggle. Darn you! It was such a nicely-written, angsty drabble. Now all I picture is the Simpsons. :)

Really nice title, by the way.

Wonderfully done. I would quote my favourite lines, but that would mean copying most of the drabble into this comment. Angsty, beautiful, with just the right amount of restraint.

Just one word Excellent. But since that is four :-) you get the idea.
