So I recently asked for suggestions for fic DVD commentaries, and red_satin_doll asked for one for "Birthday Girl", one of my very first fics.

And honestly, I'm not sure there's much to say, especially a bunch of years later, but I'll try.

Sorry. For seraphcelene's fic metathon, here's a commentary track for my fic "Mission Accomplished" which also doubles as meta on Slayerhood and the Watcher/Slayer relationship. Should be interesting, I hope.

( I did what any good Watcher would do. Got my Slayer killed in the line of duty. Yeah, Giles, fine, but what does that MEAN? )

Doing commentaries for fics you've written is a lot of fun. You get to pretend that you're Marty Scorsese talking about "Mean Streets" at length. Anyway, two more annotated old fics, predating my LJ days; one cute and surreal Buffy/Faith and one evil and utterly sick Willow/Tara ensemble crossover (the latter actually requested, possibly not seriously, by frogfarm, so... don't blame me):

Summary: Alternate version of "Family", crossover with "Texas Chainsaw Massacre". Tara’s family kidnap her and the scoobies follow, but of course there's things Tara hasn't told them... According to some this is "completely demented" and "morbidly sadistic" but I like it.

Right, here we go with the DVD commentaries. This was a lot of fun.

frogfarm asked for Shooting Star. This is probably one that makes a lot of sense to do a commentary on, too - one of my favourite fics, with lots of little things going on underneath.

sl_podcast asked for Dawn of the Dead. The commentary is largely me naming the pop culture references, but there might be an insight or two as well.

faith_chaos asked for commentary on... a drabble? Hey, whatever floats yer boat. Parole.

And also, someone completely anonymous asked for commentary on Wow. Sure, why not, though I think it's a fairly self-explanatory fic (summary: I'm a perv).

Damnit. Slimy little...

Psychological warfare used to be so easy. Leave enemies hints that you can kill them anytime you want, watch enemies stampede like cattle, laugh evilly.

But this was just... undignified.

Angelus was soaked to the shoulder when he finally managed to catch the last of Willow's goldfish. Little bastard had eluded him for 20 minutes, it deserved a thread through its... goddamn... slippery... oops. Where'd it go?

He slipped on the fish and fell on his ass with a loud - and painful - crash.

"Willow? Is everything alright?"

"Uh... yeah." Falsetto voice. "Just fine... Mom."

Someone would pay.

Gakked from faith_chaos because, well, I do love DVD commentaries, I do love to dissect my own stuff, and in the words of Wayne Coyne (Yoshimi musical YAY), I do love duct tape, though that has nothing to do with this.

If you've ever watched your favorite dvds, and then found yourself eager to hear exactly what the actors, directors, writers and even production designers thought about making the episode, the movie, or whatever - you'll know sometimes the best parts of dvds are hearing the commentaries. Getting into an actor's feelings about the character they play, getting the background behind a writer's plans and metaphors, even just getting the stupid anecdotal stuff that makes you laugh, it's all good.
