I was going to post this as my halloween fic, but then it turned out more of an All Saint's Day fic (or maybe I just didn't get it finished on time). This is partly inspired by a comment to deird1 a while back, sorry for writing it before you got the chance. :-) I'm not exactly sure what I mean by this fic, it just jumped into my head and had to be written. I'll write something silly once NaNoWriMo is over, promise.

Well, the holiday is over, so let's see what some people did for Halloween. I did have an idea for a T:TSCC fic (which would be my first) involving Cameron answering the door and being thoroughly confused by the idea of trick-or-treating, but I decided to stick with what I know for now. I was kindly invited to the lynnevitational, and I got the idea that I'd use it as an excuse to finally finish this old WIP. Because apparently, my muse needs a deadline. For which I was fashionably late anyway, but here it is.

Summary: The Angel gang's last stand didn't go unnoticed among those who used to know them, especially given their last communications on the eve of the battle. Two letters and a phone call start a chain reaction that force the survivors to re-evaluate their situation.

Fic started in 2005, revised and finished in 2008 for the lynnevitational.

I didn't think I was going to fic the After the Fall comics, but #3 just gave me this angsty-silly plotbunny that jumped out at me and shrieked "WRITE ME! WRIIIIIITE MEEEE!" in this sort of high-pitched, vicious voice that didn't take "no" for an answer. So this is based on two of the frames in #3, which means SPOILER ALERT. (If you haven't read them, what you need to know is basically that (highlight) LA was sent to hell following "Not Fade Away", and Angel was made human. That, and the dialogue in the two panels included at the end of this fic.)

Angel nods. "The always getting her way, the sarcasm..."

"God, I hated her." Xander adjusts his eyepatch.

"Did you ever tell her that?"

"Oh yeah. All the time."

Angel's voice wavers slightly. "I never did."

They could say more, but sometimes hate is easier.
