For [livejournal.com profile] still_grrr's Oscar month, here's a piece of everyday office life at Wolfram & Hart (which really has nothing at all to do with the movie in question).

Title: Corporate Ladder
Author: Beer Good ([livejournal.com profile] beer_good_foamy)
Rating: PG13
Prompt: 162 (Who Framed Roger Rabbit, 1988)
Fandom/timeline: Angel
Word Count: 100
Warning: Cruelty to animals

It must be bunnies. )

[livejournal.com profile] open_on_sunday's prompt is "Expert". Here's a character I've never written before.

Can't Stop The Signal
Not Fade Away

She has facts, history, data on everything. She's Files and Records; it's her job. If it's happened, she remembers it. If it's foretold or planned, she anticipates it.

Angel standing up to the Senior Partners was neither foretold nor planned. Yet she's perfectly calm as the skyscraper falls, tons of concrete and steel crashing down around her. She knows her history; this is unusual, unfortunate, but far from unheard of. What falls always comes up again. Until then, she'll be waiting right here, keeping the information secure.

She's Files and Records. It's her job. And she's very good at it.

When the demons arrive,
Those alive would be better off dead!

Well, the holiday is over, so let's see what some people did for Halloween. I did have an idea for a T:TSCC fic (which would be my first) involving Cameron answering the door and being thoroughly confused by the idea of trick-or-treating, but I decided to stick with what I know for now. Three drabbles and two ficlets on a theme. None of them is exactly of the happy sort, sorry.

Nominated:

Title: Why Are You Wearing That Stupid Human Suit? Five Halloween Costumes
Author: Beer Good ([livejournal.com profile] beer_good_foamy)
Rating: PG13
Word Count: 1100 (100+100+100+300+500, that spells M-O-O-N)
Characters: Faith, Fred, Snyder, Wood, Lindsey
Disclaimer: Joss is a nummy treat.
Summary: Five times five people got dressed up. Or didn't. The length of the title is dedicated to [livejournal.com profile] xlivvielockex. :-)

"Creatures of the night shy away from Halloween. They find it all much too crass." (Rupert Giles)

Beware! Bewaaaaare! )

Two completely off-topic drabbles from someone who feels like he ought to know better; one slightly cynical and one slightly less so. Pick one. Good luck, everyone.

Smile And Grin At The Change All Around

Roger and Pedro snuck a break from work every morning around 10 to wash their hands and have coffee (black, naturally). Most mornings they'd talk about sports, but not today.

"So... what do you think of the new CEO?"

Pedro shrugged. "Dunno, man. Heard a lot of good about him, but I'll believe it when I see it."

"But just look at his track record!..."

The discussion went on until Mr Keith walked in. "Hey! Who told you two to stop sacrificing goats?"

"Uh... nobody, sir."

"Then get back to work. Mr Angel isn't paying you to run Wolfram & Hart."

The Tide Is Turning

After Sunnydale, they'd discussed old Council methods for "recruiting" Slayers. Giles told them about deception, blackmail, kidnapping, parents mysteriously disappearing... making girls do things they don't want to do. That was the old ways. They'd never do that, obviously. But... changing the world can be hard, right?

Then the new Slayers started volunteering. One by one, dozens, thousands;

"Superpowers? Yay!"

"Save the world? About time."

"Just try and stop us."

Buffy occasionally groans that she's the leader and shouldn't have to work this hard just to keep up. When Giles points out that nobody's making her do it, she smiles.

ETA on top so everyone sees it: [livejournal.com profile] doyle_sb4 wrote a Dr Who/Blackadder crossover which not only explains a lot but is also dead funny. Go read.

Man, Merlin sucked. Why can't someone give ASH a decent script? It's great that he's working, but between this, The Invisibles and that rock opera thingy with Paris Hilton, I'm starting to wonder if he's insulted his agent somehow.

Anyway, two drabbles for [livejournal.com profile] open_on_sunday's prompt "Hope."

Silly-ish Spike & Angel )

Serious-ish Jonathan & Andrew )

I wrote this for [livejournal.com profile] still_grrr's Big Bad month, specifically about Wolfram & Hart. Except I'm not sure it's even about Wolfram & Hart... hell, I'm not 100% sure this even qualifies as fanfiction as there's really not a single recognizable canonical character in it. It's a story, though, and when I thought of it I couldn't not write it.

We go on, no matter what. Our firm has always been here, in one form or another.

Well, I promised a Merl ficlet for [livejournal.com profile] still_grrr, so:

Title: You Keep Me Hanging On
Author: Beer Good ([livejournal.com profile] beer_good_foamy)
Rating: PG13
Word Count: 200
Characters/Pairing (if any): Merl
Timeline: "Redefinition", after Angel's interrogation

The eternal sucker )

Also, here's the five favourite fics meme that's been making the rounds. Picking just five of my own fics is like picking just five Dylan albums - way too hard, and I'm not objective - but here goes:

Dawn Of The Dead (Dawncentric ensemble, PG13). Because it was hilarious to write and still cracks me up. I love writing parody

Atonement's A Bitch (Faith, PG13). Because it was both fun and scary to get inside Faith's head throughout s7, and I think it ties a lot of things together. I love angsty introspections.

Welcome To The Slaughterhouse (Ensemble, NC17). Because it's so utterly sick and fucked up that I felt dirty writing it, and just had to keep digging deeper. I love slasher movies.

Wow (Willow/Tara, Buffy/Faith, R). Because it just came so easy (pun not intended) and Willow has never been more fun to write. I love femslash.

And the fifth... hard to pick just one, I love'em all, but I guess I'll say The Hardest Walk (ensemble, R-ish) because it was the first one I ever wrote and even if I'd probably write it differently today, it did sort of open the flood gates. And I love flood gates.

Tag, anyone who hasn't already been but wants to be.
