It's More Joy Day! Also, it's Friday! So this is a very silly fic of an idea that may have deserved a more serious treatment but… eh. Here's hoping someone finds it fun.

Title: Eat the Rich
Author: Beer Good ([personal profile] beer_good_foamy)
Fandom: Buffy
Characters/Pairing: Buffy, Andrew
Rating: PG13
Word count: ~650
Summary: How Buffy blew up the Mayor twice and made a million dollars.

Hello, gentle listeners, and welcome to SlayerPod. Today we have with us Buffy Summers, Slayer of the Vampyres. )
beer_good_foamy: (Buffy)
Title: Development Hell
Author: Beer Good ([personal profile] beer_good_foamy)
Fandom: Buffyverse, post-"Chosen"
Rating: PG13
Word Count: ~1800 (this chapter)
Characters/Pairings: Let's see, there's Buffy, Andrew, Lorne, and a couple of OCs. Various other characters as well as canonical pairings will be alluded to, played with, and lovingly frosted with glucose. Also, any similarities to actual Hollywood actors are entirely coincidental, I swear.
Summary: While killing time in Rome, Buffy runs into a new Slayer with a shocking secret. Now, she's going to have to face her past to keep both herself and those around her from a Fate Worse Than Death... Hollywood.

Previously: Chapter 1, in which Buffy meets and rescues someone claiming to be Buffy The Vampire Slayer

Chapter 2, in which things are explained )
beer_good_foamy: (Buffy)
I want to talk about Buffy the Vampire Slayer and how there's a (to quote a phrase) question hidden in plain sight in both the title and the story that the show must address. Basically yet another attempt by me to try to explain what "Chosen", for all its faults, does right as a series finale. This is in no way meant to sum up everything that happens in the last couple of seasons, and if there's anything you feel I leave out altogether, that's because I leave it out altogether to talk specifically about this:

Buffy The Vampire Slayer isn't just the title of a television show, it's the central conflict of it. The very thing that gives Buffy (and Buffy) strength is the same thing that traps her. The story itself is the biggest bad, and the central problem of season 7 is, how do you end the story without killing the story?

So LJ is back(ish), eh? That means I get to rec another great podfic version of one of my fics, arranged by [livejournal.com profile] sl_podcast and read by Lindsey Zana. This time it's the Holtz ficlet Express Delivery, listen to it here!

Also, here's a drabble for [livejournal.com profile] open_on_sunday, loosely inspired by the last few days of LJ troubles. I don't know if this is the first Buffy/Angry Birds crossover ever.

Killing Pigs Is Hard

The building trembled as something smashed into the outside wall. Andrew winced and felt his face, which was already starting to swell up. "Do you think I'll get a black eye?"

"Hope springs eternal." Spike checked that their fragile cargo hadn't been damaged in the mad rush for cover.

"Oh. Cool." Again, the house shook and groaned under the bombardment.

"These eggs had better be worth stealing," Spike muttered. A red-feathered demonic bird crashed through the wall and landed on the floor, where it lay glaring at them. "Willow might have bloody told us their mommies would get this angry."

[livejournal.com profile] open_on_sunday celebrates its 400th challenge with the prompt "Open and/or Sunday" this week, so get on over and take part!

Here's one that struck me. I have no idea why.

Re-Make
Post-series

It's two years before they open Nikki Wood's case again and get out the shadowcasters. Theres big evil a-brewin' and they're fresh out of ideas. After looking in the box for a few seconds, Buffy clears her throat.

"Uh, Andrew, something you want to tell us...?"

"No...? OK, I lost the original when we moved to Rome, so I made this one instead. I think it's pretty faithful to the original, don't you think?"

Vi cocks her head and looks closer at the crude cardboard cut-outs. "Why is that vamp glittering?"

"See, I had to make it relevant to today..."

”Eureka!” Andrew ran into the room, waving a large book. When Buffy and Xander shot him a curious look, he sighed. ”You're supposed to reply 'You don't smell-a so good yourself.' Anyway, you said the Izzeemarc demons' power crystals make them invincible?”

”Yeah...?”

”Couldn't we trick them into giving us the crystals?” He showed them the book: 100 Cons And Scams.

”Like... winning the crystals at three-card monte?” Xander looked skeptical. ”I know they're not too smart, but would that work?”

Buffy shrugged. ”As long as they don't beware of geeks bearing grifts.”

Someone nominated Pan Am Highway Blues for Best Drabble at [livejournal.com profile] wicked_awards. Thanks a bunch!

And continuing with the drabble meme, no less than two people requested Andrew drabbles, which was tricky since a) I don't really write Andrew a lot, and b) tend to write him the same way every time. But let's try something.

[livejournal.com profile] washa_way wanted to hear Andrew and Willow talk about girls. This might not be exactly what you were looking for, sorry, but it's what my muse gave me. If it's too far from what you want, let me know.

Phantom menace )

And [livejournal.com profile] emeleye_miller wanted Lorne and Andrew discussing Twilight.

ETA on top so everyone sees it: [livejournal.com profile] doyle_sb4 wrote a Dr Who/Blackadder crossover which not only explains a lot but is also dead funny. Go read.

Man, Merlin sucked. Why can't someone give ASH a decent script? It's great that he's working, but between this, The Invisibles and that rock opera thingy with Paris Hilton, I'm starting to wonder if he's insulted his agent somehow.

Anyway, two drabbles for [livejournal.com profile] open_on_sunday's prompt "Hope."

OK, so while everyone is discussing the latest plot developments of the "season 8" comic and whether they have sufficient basis in TV canon, [livejournal.com profile] jgracio reminded me to check the original, uncut shooting script for the Angel episode “Damage” (5.11). And imagine my surprise when I found that it contains some dialogue which was eventually cut, but which addresses a very important plot point of "Buffy season 8" (specifically, one from #10). Man, there really is no end to the sneaky foreshadowing Joss puts into his shows.

For your convenience, I’ve highlighted the dialogue that was cut from the broadcast version.

Send lawyers, guns and money! )

There. Now I think we can all see how the comics are in perfect continuity with the TV shows.
