OK, this is purely for my own sake, so I'm hoping there's at least someone out there who thinks this is a good idea. I don't know if anyone else has ever thought there should be a Buffy/Dostoevsky crossover, or that Faith/Raskolnikov is a logical pairing, but...

Anyway, Chapter 2 of Shelf Life, in which our heroes get sent into Giles' bookshelf, this time finding themselves in 1860s S:t Petersburg. Written for [livejournal.com profile] still_grrr's Classic Literature month.

Title: Shelf Life
Author: Beer Good ([livejournal.com profile] beer_good_foamy)
Prompt: 153: Crime And Punishment
Fandom: Buffy s5-ish, w/crossovers
Characters: Ensemble
Word Count: 1764

Book The First: In Which There Are No Giants

Book The Second: In Which Nobody Gets Murdered

On an exceptionally hot evening early in July... )

Hey, this is nifty:

And on that note, this month is Classic Literature month at [livejournal.com profile] still_grrr, so let's see if I can create a sort of multi-chapter multi-crossover fic type thingy. The first challenge is "Ancient Greece to Renaissance", so let's step back to 1605...

I'm trying to come up with both prompts and fic for [livejournal.com profile] zombie_fest, but my muse is finding it difficult; the trouble is, almost all of my fandoms already have some sort of zombies in them, so it's hard to come up with a different take on them. But here's a darkish sort of scene that struck me.

Feel free to join in the zombie fun, everyone.

Do The Hustle

”Eureka!” Andrew ran into the room, waving a large book. When Buffy and Xander shot him a curious look, he sighed. ”You're supposed to reply 'You don't smell-a so good yourself.' Anyway, you said the Izzeemarc demons' power crystals make them invincible?”

”Yeah...?”

”Couldn't we trick them into giving us the crystals?” He showed them the book: 100 Cons And Scams.

”Like... winning the crystals at three-card monte?” Xander looked skeptical. ”I know they're not too smart, but would that work?”

Buffy shrugged. ”As long as they don't beware of geeks bearing grifts.”

Script!

It just occurred to me that I left something off my year in review post: Buffy Between the Lines, the fan audio drama! Over the year, I had one script (written in 2007) produced and broadcast for season 1 and wrote half of another episode for the ongoing season 2.

And since I haven't posted the script for the first ep I wrote here, I might as well. So this is episode 11 of Buffy Between The Lines, the penultimate episode of the season, in all its pre-produced glory. I'm pretty happy with most of it.

If you want to listen to the episode, it's here. And since it ends on a bit of a cliffhanger, the season finale is here.

Title: Oldies Night
Author: Beer Good
Rating: PG13
Word Count: Over 9000
Summary: Buffy Between the Lines takes place between seasons 5 and 6, tracking what happened with the Scoobies during the Buffy-less summer - Willow's descent into black magic, everyone dealing with their grief, deciding to raise Buffy, etc. At the same time, they have to deal with a new Big Bad - Javert, a vampire Spike once sired during a very drunken night in Paris, who's decided to rid the world of California once and for all and employed a few Sunnydale lowlives to help him out.

In the last episode, Javert kidnapped Dawn, who's been less than happy with the situation and feeling generally abandoned by everyone and a bit rebellious. Javert's plan for destroying California is nearly ready for execution, and the Scoobies have their hands full...

The play's the thing )

A couple of wins from [livejournal.com profile] still_grrr. Yay, and thanks a lot! The community was a bit slow in December, but it's starting to come alive again, and I love it.
Pretties )

Also, I haven't done any [livejournal.com profile] open_on_sunday drabbles in a while. This week's prompt was "fat."

Obedience Training

Xander cocked his head. "Is it me, or is he putting on weight?"

"Yeah. He's all chubby."

"You think we should... I dunno, stop feeding him for a while?"

"Nawww." Willow pouted. "Feeding him is fun. Plus I kinda feel bad about him... if I hadn't done that to his knee, maybe he wouldn't just sit there all the time?"

"He was a lot more active a year ago, yeah. Maybe he just needs more exercise."

"My thoughts exactly." Willow grinned and licked her lips as she stepped inside Angel's cage. "Oh, Puppy? Time to burn off that baby fat..."

[livejournal.com profile] open_on_sunday prompt "Hate" inspired both Fuffy silliness and Angel/Cordy/Xander angst.

Be Brief In It

He stays by the fresh grave until darkness falls, until the other arrives.

"I used to hate her, you know. We had a club and everything." There's wonder in his voice at the years gone by. "Not the way I hate you, obviously, but... The shoe obsession, the way she opened her mouth without thinking first..."

Angel nods. "The always getting her way, the sarcasm..."

"God, I hated her." Xander adjusts his eyepatch.

"Did you ever tell her that?"

"Oh yeah. All the time."

Angel's voice wavers slightly. "I never did."

They could say more, but sometimes hate is easier.

UST
Late season 7, eeeever so slightly AU.

"Because, miss Holier-Than-Thou, you're gonna get everyone killed!"

"Look who's talking! Murdered anyone lately?"

"Get your hands off me, B."

"Or what?"

"Push me again and you'll find out."

"You mean... like this?"

"OK, that's it."

Downstairs, Rona listened in disbelief. "Our leaders hate each other. Great."

Willow grimaced. "Well, it's... complicated."

"Hey, they've stopped yelling, that's..." Vi blushed. The sound of bedsprings and occasional moans from upstairs was unmistakable. "...oh."

"So, it took them 4 years and 188 days. Pay up, Will." Xander held out his hand.

Willow grumbled. "Double or nothing they start fighting about who's on top."
